Kent drivers looking for a powerful pickup truck have counted on the RAM lineup for years. These incredible pickup trucks are a staple year in and year out and have become a symbol of rugged, dependable American machinery. The towing capacity all the RAM truck models varies depending on which you select. Every variation of the RAM has at least three different engine configurations, which play the most significant role in the final towing and payload specs. We’ve listed the details of each RAM mode below to help you choose the most efficient option for your Tacoma towing and hauling needs.

Ram 1500 Towing Capacity

The Ram 1500 has a towing capacity of 12,750 pounds. While it offers three powertrains, the engine that allows it to reach its full potential and get best-in-class towing is a 5.7L HEMI® V8 that gets up to 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. This paired with the TorqueFlite 8-speed auto transmission with variable valve timing, creates a more efficient engine performance.

RAM 2500 Towing Capacity

The RAM 2500 falls into the RAM HD lineup. You’ll easily knock off 17,980 pounds of towing thanks to the 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel I6 engine. Opting for this diesel configuration gives you the power of 370 horses and a gritty 800 lb-ft of torque. If you prefer gasoline instead of diesel, the 6.4L still nets you 429 lb-ft. Of torque and 410 horsepower.

Additional advantages come with the standard-fuel version of the RAM. A Rear Auto-Level Air Suspension supports a payload of up to 3,990 lbs.

RAM 3500 Towing Capacity

The RAM 3500 is the largest, most dominant truck and the pinnacle of the heavy-duty model lineup. When fitted with the proper equipment, this behemoth tows up to 31,210 pounds. Identical to the 2500, Federal Way drivers have the choice between a diesel or gas-powered version of the 3500.

If you want the highest-rated towing capacity, the 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel I6 is what you’re after. This configuration summons the power of 385 horses while producing 930 lb-ft of torque. The gas-burning alternative is equipped with a 6.4L HEMI V8 and manages an impressive 16,480 pounds courtesy of 410 horses and 429 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for the diesel version, you’ll have a payload capacity of 6,720 pounds – otherwise, with the diesel, you’ll have to “settle” for 6,720 pounds.
